Anvil Arts Community and Education

The Anvil Trust, which runs The Anvil, The Haymarket and The Forge, is an independent educational charity. Alongside its programme of performances, The Anvil Trust runs an all-year-round community and education programme, to the same high standards as Anvil Arts’ main programme.

“Our partnership with The Anvil has provided unique opportunities for the whole ability range of students to develop skills, both musical and personal,
which have had an overwhelmingly positive and influential effect on them as individuals.”

  • 7500 workshop places were created in 2018
  • 30,000 children performed on our stages last year
  • We provided engagement opportunities in contemporary music, classical music, world music, poetry, theatre, movement and dance
  • We supported young people with Autism to feel more confident in interviews and work placements
  • We worked with local partners to bring you the best in engagement opportunities, including Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Fluid Motion Theatre Company, Hampshire Music Service, Hampshire Culture Trust, Applewood Care Home, and provided employment opportunities for around twenty creatives from in and around Hampshire
“I think that the experiences we had changed us all both academically and personally.”

“I gained strength; I’m no longer scared of performing on a stage. I’m better at singing. I like music a lot more… I would LOVE to go to The Anvil again.”
