Anvil Arts Community and Education

The Anvil Trust, which runs The Anvil, The Haymarket and The Forge, is an independent educational charity. Alongside its programme of performances, The Anvil Trust runs an all-year-round community and education programme run to the same high standards as Anvil Arts’ main programme.

“Our partnership with The Anvil has provided unique opportunities for the whole ability range of students to develop skills, both musical and personal, which have had an overwhelmingly positive and influential effect on them as individuals.”

Our workshops and projects bring wider musical horizons and enhanced life skills all over the county. We also take music and enjoyment to people who could find it difficult to come to our venues, including those in sheltered housing and special schools. This work has a high impact on communities in Basingstoke and Deane benefiting families, groups and individuals in the borough and beyond. This work changes lives and open minds of those taking part.

  • 13,000 workshop places were created in 2016
  • 30,000 children performed on our stages last year

“I think that the experiences we had changed us all both academically and personally.” Participant

“I gained strength; I’m no longer scared of performing on a stage. I’m better at singing. I like music a lot more… I would LOVE to go to The Anvil again.”
