Since The Anvil opened in 1994, Basingstoke has benefitted from more than 5 million people coming to see a performance here.

Anvil Arts commissioned leading consultants BOP Consulting to discover what impact Anvil Arts' bringing so many people into the town centre has on the local economy.

They discovered that:

• Anvil Arts brings hundreds of thousands of people into the town who would not otherwise come here.
  
• These additional visitors spend £7.9 million per year in the local economy.
• Anvil Arts is extremely effective in ensuring that the public investment it receives supports our town.
• For every £1 of support invested by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in Anvil Arts, we generate £9.30 for the local economy.
