2027 will mark the 50th anniversary of the release of Native New Yorker.

The glory days of the top vocal group Odyssey, one of the most successful soul/disco acts of their era, culminated in the early 1980s when they topped the charts with Use It Up and Wear It Out. From their debut album emerged their first smash single - Native New Yorker, an international hit late in 1977.

The founder and original lead vocalist, Lillian Lopez-Collazo Jackson, created a legacy of music that continues to inspire audiences today. Her eldest son, Steven Collazo, who worked behind the scenes as a backing vocalist, session musician, and musical director for the group’s live performances and tours, now proudly carries that legacy forward. Keeping the spirit of Odyssey alive, Steven continues to take the group into the future with a talented line-up of singers.
