A distinctly Italian-flavoured programme – Rossini’s thrilling Italian Girl in Algiers Overture, Mascagni’s beautiful Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, Verdi’s Grand March from Aida, and Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien.
Rising opera star Anthony Flaum performs two great Puccini arias and a Neapolitan song. The brilliant Lucy Scotchmer plays Elgar's magnificent Cello Concerto – English music from the same era as Puccini and Verdi’s works.
Celebrating over 40 years with the Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra, Stephen Scotchmer conducts the Andante from his 5th Symphony.
