David Martin
David has appeared in numerous productions from farce to Shakespeare, via panto and melodrama. Shakespearean roles have included Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Malcolm in Macbeth, and the Antipholus twins in The Comedy of Errors. Other roles include Adam in Rough Crossing (Salisbury Playhouse), Milo Tindle in Sleuth (Tabs Productions), and Colin in Absent Friends (Westcliff Palace).
He has appeared in several Gothic horrors for Rumpus Theatre Company on tour, including The Judge’s House!, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Devil’s Bride, and most recently, The Tell-Tale Heart, as well as farces The Mating Game, Bedside Manners, and Don’t Dress for Dinner (Pomegranate Theatre), and most recently, in the world premiere of a new farce, As It Comes!
He is no stranger to rep theatre, having appeared in a marathon seven plays to celebrate 70 years of the Pomegranate Theatre, including playing Mortimer in Arsenic and Old Lace, and Bill in An Evening with Gary Lineker.
Recent work also includes A Midsummer Night's Dream (English National Opera), and The Classic Thriller Season 2018 and 2019 (Theatre Royal Nottingham).
David usually spends Christmas playing the comic in panto, as Buttons in Cinderella (Cresset Theatre), Idle Jack in Dick Whittington (Newpalm), Muddles in Snow White (Elgiva Theatre), and Wishee Washee in Aladdin (Hartlepool Town Hall). He has also appeared in Christmas shows such as Father and Szczepansky in The Railway Children (The Brewhouse, Taunton), Santa in Rudolph the Robot Reindeer (Chesterfield Studios), and as King Rat in The Pied Piper (Redbridge Drama Centre).
