Chris Fearn
Actor, writer, musician, grower of marvellous facial hair… Chris Fearn and his fruity vocal chords are back in Basingstoke! He thinks they’re mad. “What would they want with this old ham?” he cried. But it turns out they have fallen for his baritone sarcasm and Wayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson eyebrow, Captain Hook, line, and Tinker (bell).
You know, Captain Hook was actually the first part he can ever remember putting on his ‘characters I have to play’ list. At eight years old, he was knocking around the stage playing Anton Deck, a lowly shipmate on Hook’s crew. The actor playing the captain swept in, with her coal-coloured curls, crimson coat, and papier mâché hook, and he thought, “Oh yes. That’s a bit of me, that is.” So, when the offer came along a swift 27 years later, he had to bite their hand off (irony intended).
So, to those little ones who are wondering if dreams ever come true, know you are watching someone who’s been waiting nearly 30 years for one of his. Sometimes all it takes is decades of patience and having a really good evil laugh.
What else has he been in? Well, here’s a quick round-up!
Cinderella, The Night My Parents Disappeared, Honk! The Musical, NewsRevue, Shakespeare for Breakfast, andDickens for Dinner.
He writes too. This year he wrote a brand-new version of Jack and the Beanstalk for UKP, and two songs for 2023 Musical Comedy Award winner, Katie Norris. He is also proud to have written his own one-man show, Chimney Thustards and Other People I Made Up, in which he played Chimney Thusdards (and other people he made up).
Anyway, make sure you boo him. It’s all he’s ever wanted.
