Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. We'd like to let you know of a few ways our team has been looking after themselves at this time, and how you can too, following the NHS' five steps to mental wellbeing.
1. Connect with other people
Whether it's board games with the people you live with as Duncan (Group Bookings) has been doing, or Zoom calls with those outside of your household, make sure you share positive experiences at this difficult time.
2. Be physically active
In line with government advice, make sure you get some fresh air and take a walk or a bike ride if you are able to. There's some lovely open spaces around Basingstoke, so make the most of them! Erin (Marketing) recommends the bluebell woods on the town's outskirts.
3. Learn a new skill
Now is the perfect time to pick up crochet, baking, crafting and more, just as many of our team have done, such as Becka (box office), who has picked up her oil pastels and spent some quality time sketching. Skills help create a sense of purpose and self-esteem.
4. Give to others
Lots of our team, such as Jackie (box office) have been giving back to the community by creating scrub hats for NHS staff, as well as face masks for friends and family. Small acts of kindness at this time make a huge difference.
5. Practice mindfulness
Yoga is an excellent way to take a step back from the stresses of day-to-day life, and a top activity of our team member, Ben (Front of House).
What have you been doing to maintain a sense of wellbeing at this time? We'd love to hear on Twitter!
