All playboy Bobby Child wants to do is sing and dance - but his domineering mother says he s got to work for the family banking business. She sends him to the sleepy mining town of Deadrock to close its only theatre. But Bobby soon discovers it s the perfect place to put on a show and fulfil his dream of becoming a star of the stage!
His adventures take an unexpected turn when he falls head-over-heels in love with the theatre owner s daughter Polly Baker - the only girl in a town of 157 men. The stage is set for comedy, romance, glamour - and some dazzling tap dance routines!
George Gershwin s musical score is a feast of well- known songs from the exuberant I Got Rhythm, Slap That Bass and Shall We Dance, to the romantic They Can t Take That Away From Me and Someone to Watch Over Me.
