London Mozart Players
Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings
Beethoven Violin Concerto
The sparkling overture to Mozart's most popular opera opens this concert, which features Tasmin Little both as violin soloist and directing the orchestra.
Written between the Fourth Symphony and 1812 Overture, Tchaikovsky's Serenade is the composer's homage to the world of the 18th century that he loved. Written for his own pleasure, it is one of his most delightful pieces, featuring a stately first movement, a graceful waltz, an elegy and, as finale, variations on a Russian theme.
Beethoven's Violin Concerto is one of his greatest masterpieces, full of nobility and lyricism.
