James Shearman conductor
Barry Norman presenter

We are delighted to present Philharmonia at the Movies: Sci-Fi, hosted by the legendary Barry Norman. From Luke Skywalker entering the Death Star’s trench to E.T. riding through the night sky, music has the ability to make great movie scenes even more powerful. In this special concert, music from some of the best sci-fi films ever made is performed live in concert by a vast ensemble of musicians. The programme also includes music from Things To Come, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Trek among many others.

Barry Norman will introduce each piece and guide the audience through the music, as well as share some stories and behind the scenes anecdotes about some of the most exciting films ever to hit the big screen.

"This is simply a great evening out - a super orchestra and some of the finest music ever written for the cinema. The presenter's not too intrusive either. I promise you won't be disappointed." Barry Norman
