Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra presents a true treasure chest of some of the most cherished classical music ever written. Beethoven's powerful Egmont Overture gets the evening off to a stirring start. Dynamic, award-winning Russian pianist Yulia Chaplina returns to The Anvil stage to perform Tchaikovsky's ever-popular Piano Concerto no. 1. Stephen Scotchmer's beautiful and poignant Valse Tragique is a tribute to the victims of the Bataclan attack in November 2015. An especially genial warmth pervades the whole of Brahms' Third Symphony, rising in the first and fourth movements to some climaxes of real passion.
