Virtual Orchestra

The Virtual Orchestra is a free experience for all the family that gives everyone the opportunity to experience a symphony orchestra from the inside, no matter what your age or experience.

Walk through the installation showcasing the workings of the Philharmonia as the Orchestra perform Holst’s The Planets, conducted by Principal Conductor, Esa-Pekka Salonen. Witness each section playing their part. With over 37 screens, journey your way through the installation from violins to percussion, and from Mercury to Neptune.

We'll be opening the doors for three weekends in Festival Place from Sat 30 Mar with more opportunities to try out instruments and get involved in workshops – all free!

OktoberFest

Hampshire’s OktoberFest is a fantastic family festival attracting over 8000 visitors annually.

Originating from Munich in Germany the festival is a celebration of fine food, fine beer and fine times. A huge variety of real ale from across the region will be available, with over 220 different beers, craft ales and ciders, and new for this year - two gin bars offering some of the finest tipples and tonics to whet your appetite. Quite simply - this is an event not to be missed!

Ever wanted to try a musical instrument but didn’t know where to start? Help is at hand – from The Musication Station!
 
Anvil Arts will be opening The Musication Station in Festival Place for three weekends during Basingstoke Festival. All will be welcome to come and have a go at playing guitar, bass, electric drums, ukuleles and keyboards - just pop in! Priority will be given to under 25s.
