World at Large

The World at Large at Merton Infant School

The World at Large was a project that supported teachers as they use music and drama to develop their school’s own learning and behavioural values.

At Merton Infant School, musicians and drama teachers from the school gave four days of arts workshops to the whole of Year 2 based on the Merton Values; Motivation, Excellence, Respect, Teamwork, Opportunities, Never Give Up.

Three classes were split into two groups to work on drama and music pieces respectively. The groups created all of their own work to encourage understanding of the values that the school aims to instil in its pupils.

The students then shared of their work to the Year 1 students, and their friends and families.

The project was a joyous week - creating new music, movement, art and stories with some fantastically enthusiastic young people” Neil Valentine, string teacher

We hope to develop this project and reach more schools within the Borough in the near future.
