“Triumphant, glorious, exhilarating” Uncut
Jerry Dammers, founder of The Specials and 2 Tone records, writer of Ghost Town and Free Nelson Mandela, started his orchestra as a “tribute band” to space jazz maverick Sun Ra, He has recruited some of the biggest talents on the jazz scene for an exhilarating juggernaut of a show that transports the audience to a place where reggae and hip-hop collide with cosmic jazz. It is a vivid musical, visual and theatrical event in which there’s something for everyone – from fans of Jerry Dammers and 2Tone to fans of Sun Ra, reggae, Massive Attack, Portishead and British jazz. Expect anything from powerful big band swing to outlandish Egyptian outfits, sci-fi dressed mannequins, mummies and even a spaceship. A joyous and uplifting evening like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
The orchestra has received rave reviews from both jazz and rock/pop critics.
