The first of Anthony Trollope’s Barsetshire novels, The Warden, was published in 1855 and was followed by five others. These are his most popular works, though perhaps his greatest achievement is a series of novels chronicling the life of the ambitious
Phineas Finn and the aristocratic Palliser family.
Edward Fox has followed a long career in theatre, films and television. Best known amongst his films are The Go-Between, The Day of the Jackal and The Shooting Party. Television includes Edward and Mrs Simpson, Quartermaine’s Terms and Dance to the Music of Time. His long list of theatre credits includes Eliot’s The Family Reunion and his highly acclaimed appearance as Harold Macmillan in Hugh Whitemore’s A Letter of Resignation.
