Barbara Dickson rose to fame in 1976 with her first hit Answer Me. She was then asked by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to record Another Suitcase in Another Hall from their new musical Evita, which became her second hit in 1977.
Later hits included January February and I Know Him So Well, a duet with Elaine Paige, which remained at number one in the UK charts for four weeks, and is still in the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling female duet of all-time.
Barbara is also a noted actress, starring in the original production of Willy Russell's musical Blood Brothers as Mrs Johnstone, a role which earned her an Olivier Award in 1984. She also won this award for the second time in 2000, for her part in the musical Spend, Spend, Spend.
Barbara was made an OBE by Her Majesty The Queen in 2001 for ‘Services To Music And Drama'.
"[Barbara's] voice, as true as ever, has a thrilling quality in the upper register... The chance to hear her sing a personal choice of favourite good songs should not be missed." The Times
