Chief Executive of Anvil Arts honoured for her work

Christine Bradwell, Chief Executive of Anvil Arts, has recently been honoured for her work in the arts twice in one week.

On Sunday 23 May, Christine won the Individual Arts & Culture Award at this year’s Place To Be Proud Of Awards held in Festival Place in Basingstoke.

Christine has worked tirelessly to not only develop a stronger cultural experience and draw new audiences to events in Basingstoke and Deane, but she has also raised the cultural profile of the borough.  She has managed the merger of The Anvil and The Haymarket to create a new cultural organisation Anvil Arts.

Organised by Destination Basingstoke and presented this year by BBC Radio Berkshire’s Anne Diamond, the awards are a celebration of extraordinary people that have made a commitment to their local community.

Christine was also shortlisted in the TMA Management Awards on Friday 21 May for Manager of the Year, one of only three candidates nationwide.

The TMA Theatre and Management Awards celebrate the very best in British theatre, opera and dance.  These unique awards recognise the achievements of artists, venues and companies based throughout the United Kingdom.  The awards champion the excellence and diversity of artistic activity and the high standard of professional, specialist work which contributes to and supports the success of the performing arts.

Christine says “It is heartening to be recognised in the same week by both your professional and local peers.  There are many dedicated and extraordinary people working to keep the arts thriving for our audiences in these difficult times and at Anvil Arts we look forward to working with them to make Basingstoke a destination of choice”.
