Fanfare for Gosport

Fanfare for Gosport

Posted on

The latest project from Anvil Arts Associate Artists New Dimensions, Fanfare for Gosport, was performed for the first time at the Royal Clarence Yard on 11 Sep as part of Gosport’s Heritage Open Weekend.

The new work celebrated the heritage and people of the town of Gosport and its communities, with each movement of the piece reflecting an aspect of Gosport. The first movement, Metal and Salt, takes inspiration from the rich history of the town as a naval port.

The second movement, Looking Out Looking Back, focuses on the stories of those from Gosport and the final takes the idea of a fanfare and is more forward looking. It is hoped that the piece can be used for civic occasions in Gosport in future.
