Young people and autism

Over the course of the next three years (2015 – 2018) Anvil Arts will be working closely with Dove House School to provide workshops and support for young people with autism, working with their teachers to ensure that the arts remain a key part of their learning experience.

So far we have worked with a Year 10 Performing Arts BTEC group where members of the team at Proteus delivered two sessions on voice and characterisation to support the group’s studies in Drama. In addition, as part of their summer Activity Day, two artists from the SoCo Music Hub in Eastleigh (Jim Chorley and Lorna Jones) came in to deliver three one and a half hour long sessions to three different groups of young people with a focus on writing lyrics.

Dove House will also be taking part in our Gandhi Comes to Mind project this autumn and some young people are undertaking the Arts Award to fit in with their current studies.

Relaxed Performances

We are delighted to offer a relaxed performance for our pantomime for those on the autistic spectrum and with other disabilities. Please visit our Relaxed Performance page for more details.
